What is a "cookie"?

You've probably noticed a lot of sites now asking for permission from you to use cookies. That's because privacy laws recently changed and sites are now required to ask permission where before they just did it without your knowledge (sneaky, we know!)

A cookie is a tiny little file that is placed on your computer that remembers who you are and what you do on the site so that next time you visit, you don't have to re-enter all your preferences, and all the little files that you accessed before such as pictures and sound, don't have to reload.

It's a normal part of using the internet and unfortunately does not provide you with a nice snack.
